Improved fast pyrolysis bio‐oils from straw and miscanthus by fractionated condensation

چکیده

Fast pyrolysis is one of the most promising conversion processes for producing advanced biofuels, which can be used as substitute fuel oils or chemicals. Herbaceous biomass due to its comparatively high amount cellulose and catalytically active inorganic content results in oil with water even if original was dry. Such bio-oil separates into two phases: an upper aqueous phase a bottom tarry phase. The separation by decantation not efficient method reduce total acid number because part valuable components will lost To improve quality bio-oils single-phase liquids staged condensation seems better method. minimum temperature leads liquid determined around 66°C wheat/barley straw 62°C miscanthus. A further increase result lower number, but goes along higher losses organics second stage.

Pressurised pyrolysis of Miscanthus using a fixed bed reactor.

Miscanthus x giganteus was pyrolysed, in a fixed bed reactor in a constant flow of dinitrogen gas, at a rate of 13°C/min from ambient to 550°C, then held for 25 min at this temperature. The pressures employed ranged from atmospheric to 26 bar. The major compounds identified in the bio-oil were water, phenol, and phenol derivatives. The water contents impact on the usefulness of the bio-oil as a...

Reinforcement of the bio-gas conversion from pyrolysis of wheat straw by hot caustic pre-extraction

Background Pyrolysis has attracted growing interest as a versatile means to convert biomass into valuable products. Wheat straw has been considered to be a promising biomass resource due to its low price and easy availability. However, most of the products obtained from wheat straw pyrolysis are usually of low quality. Hot soda extraction has the advantage of selective dissolution of lignin whi...

Fast Pyrolysis of Lignins

Three lignins: Indulin AT, Lignoboost, and Acetocell lignin, were characterized and pyrolyzed in a continuous-fed fast pyrolysis process. The physical and chemical properties of the lignins included chemical composition, heat content, ash, and water content. The distributed activation energy model (DAEM) was used to describe the pyrolysis of each lignin. Activation energy distributions of each ...

Adsorption of copper and zinc by biochars produced from pyrolysis of hardwood and corn straw in aqueous solution.

Biochars produced by pyrolysis of hardwood at 450 °C (HW450) and corn straw at 600 °C (CS600) were characterized and investigated as adsorbents for the removal of Cu(II) and Zn(II) from aqueous solution. The adsorption data were well described by a Langmuir isotherm, with maximum Cu(II) and Zn(II) adsorption capacities of 12.52 and 11.0 mg/g for CS600, 6.79 and 4.54 mg/g for HW450, respectively...
